MoE denies social media claims on academic certificate fees as false

NCHE

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has dismissed claims circulating on social media about the government planning to introduce bi-annual renewal fees for academic certificates as false.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the alleged leaked cabinet paper suggesting that holders of academic qualifications, including JCE, MSCE, Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, and PhDs, would have to pay periodic renewal fees tied to their highest level of education is entirely untrue.

The proposed fees were said to range from K1,500 to K5,000 per year, but the Ministry has not confirmed any such plans.

“The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology would like to alert the general public that information circulating on social media claiming the government is introducing bi-annual renewal fees for academic certificates is FALSE,” the statement read.

The Ministry urges the public to disregard the misinformation and to obtain information regarding education policies only through official government channels.

The public is advised to check official government websites or contact the Ministry directly for accurate information on education matters.
