Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) has stepped in as the official connectivity sponsor for the African Netball Cup, bringing high-speed internet to the Griffin Saenda Sports Complex in Lilongwe.

The partnership was announced Thursday at the tournament venue, marking a major boost for digital access throughout the championship.

MTL Chief Commercial Officer Gladson Kuyeri said the company accepted the partnership immediately after being approached by Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) President Vetu Harawa.

Kuyeri described the event as a national moment of pride and an opportunity for Malawians to experience world-class netball through reliable, fast connectivity.

He highlighted that the complex has been fully connected using fibre, supported by enough access points to ensure seamless coverage for fans, officials, athletes, broadcasters and continental netball authorities.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the upgraded network will enable broadcasters to deliver high-quality footage to viewers across Malawi.

He added that MTL, as one of the country’s oldest and most established telecommunications providers, is committed to ensuring a smooth digital experience for everyone inside the venue.

Spectators and participants will have access to high-speed Wi-Fi, allowing them to stream, post and share tournament moments across major platforms such as TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.

Local organizing committee chairperson Limbani Matola praised MTL’s sponsorship as essential to the tournament’s operations.

Matola said effective connectivity is critical for communication, media work and global engagement, noting that “internet is life” in the context of a modern international sporting event.

Matola said the open-access connectivity will help journalists distribute high-quality images and stories to audiences across the continent and beyond.

He stressed that the world’s attention is on Malawi, and strong digital channels will ensure that the country’s hosting efforts and the competition itself are properly showcased.

He added that MTL’s support has “breathed life” into the championship by enabling real-time updates and broad digital visibility.

With reliable internet powering the event, organizers expect fans everywhere to follow the action closely, ensuring the African Netball Cup reaches wider audiences than ever before.
