Apostle James Chikopa of Everlasting Life Ministry in Zomba District has made a charitable donation of clothes, a bag of flour, soap, and other necessities to White Phapuwa and his wife, an impoverished elderly couple aged 100.
The assistance came shortly after Malawi24 published a story highlighting that the couple was in urgent need of help.
Speaking during the donation ceremony held in Jorichi 2 Village, Jali area in Zomba, Chikopa said he decided to give clothes, food, and other supplies after learning about the difficult daily life the elderly couple was facing.
He stated that as servants who preach the word of God, their work is not only to preach but also to help people who are suffering in their physical lives.
Chikopa added that although he has provided this support, it is far from enough, as it will only sustain them for a short time because their challenges are many.
He therefore appealed to organizations, churches and well-wishers to assist the couple, especially with food and other essential items for daily living.
“I have seen these elderly people myself, and indeed they are suffering. They need urgent help, so I am asking people to go and support them,” he said.
Expressing their gratitude, Gogo Liny Phapuwa, Phapuwa’s wife, thanked Chikopa for bringing them the items and prayed that God would continue to bless him.
They live in Jorichi 2 Village, under GVH Jali, in the area of Traditional Authority Mwambo in Zomba District.
