The Malawi National Netball Team has confirmed its final 15-player squad for the African Netball Cup, set for 8–14 December 2025 at the Griffin Saenda Sports Complex in Lilongwe.

Head coach Peace Kalua Chawinga announced the team on Thursday after concluding a demanding three-week training camp.

She said five players were released from the provisional list, stressing that the competition for places was strong but the final cut was determined by the tournament’s strict squad limit.

Chawinga expressed full confidence in the final group, highlighting its blend of youth, energy and experience.

“Our preparations have been solid. The team has shown tremendous improvement, and I believe we are ready to compete for the continental title,” she said.

She added that the squad is “geared to showcase its abilities” and eager to deliver results in front of home supporters.

Deputy Director in the Ministry of Sports, Mary Waya, endorsed the squad and reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting the Queens.

She noted that hosting the African Netball Cup offers Malawians a unique opportunity to witness top-level netball on home soil, and said she hopes the team will reward the nation with strong performances.

The Queens have also secured a financial incentive from Nico Group of Companies, which has pledged K250,000 to each player for every match won, and K500,000 each if Malawi wins the championship.

Nico Group Corporate Affairs Manager Mbumba Mlia-Tasauka said the package is intended to motivate the players and reflects the company’s dedication to developing netball in Malawi.

Netball Association of Malawi president Vitumbiko Gubuduza welcomed the sponsorship and expressed confidence in the squad’s potential to shine at home.
