The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has announced a formal resolution regarding the abandoned TNM Super League fixture between Mighty Wanderers and Ekhaya FC, which halted prematurely on 5 November 2025 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The league’s determination follows a detailed review of match reports, stakeholder submissions, and relevant competition regulations. According to SULOM, the fixture will be replayed on 7 December 2025 at Kamuzu Stadium.
Officials said the original match did not reach the mandatory 75-minute threshold required for a result to stand, prompting the decision to order a full replay.
In its findings, SULOM concluded that the abandonment resulted from “several deficiencies” by multiple parties in meeting their operational and regulatory responsibilities on match day.
The league said these lapses contributed directly to the breakdown of order and the premature halt of play.
As part of its disciplinary measures, SULOM has issued stern warnings to both Mighty Wanderers and Ekhaya FC.
Each club has also been handed a suspended fine of MK5 million for failures related to security, match preparation, and general compliance with organisational obligations.
The league has further recommended disciplinary action against the match officials.
In its statement, SULOM urged the FAM Referees Committee to take immediate steps, citing non-compliance with the FIFA Return to Football International Match Protocol and SULOM’s own regulations.
Additionally, SULOM has suspended its assigned security officer and the General Match Coordinator for four matches each.
The suspensions stem from what the league described as infringements and inadequate adherence to return-to-football protocols.
SULOM confirmed that all relevant parties have been formally notified of the decisions as preparations begin for the rescheduled fixture next month.
