Malawi, India deepen cooperation

The Indian High Commissioner to Malawi, Amararam Gujar, met with Vice President Jane Ansah at Capital Hill in Lilongwe, today, discussing ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting highlighted the strong bond between Malawi and India, established in 1964, which has been built on shared values and a commitment to mutual growth.

Ansah praised India’s contributions to Malawi’s development, citing significant support in education, healthcare, agriculture, and energy. Ansah noted that India’s assistance has made a tangible difference in the lives of Malawians.

The Vice President also acknowledged India’s financial support, including soft loans for key projects such as infrastructure development and agricultural modernization.

Looking ahead, Ansah expressed enthusiasm for continued collaboration, particularly in addressing food security and healthcare challenges, aligning with President Peter Mutharika’s priorities.

In her remarks, Ansah reaffirmed Malawi’s commitment to strengthening the partnership, deepening cooperation for mutual benefit and shared development vision.
