China warns US over interference in Nigeria- Malawi24

China has warned other countries particularly U.S. not to interfere in Nigeria’s internal matters after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened possible military action over reports of Christians being persecuted in the country.

In a statement from Beijing, the Chinese government said it fully supports President Bola Tinubu’s administration and praised Nigeria for its continued efforts to promote national growth and stability.

China said that issues of religion or human rights should not be used as reasons for outside countries to involve themselves in Nigeria’s affairs, calling such actions a violation of the country’s sovereignty.

The statement followed President Trump’s decision to label Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” due to allegations of religious persecution.

China reaffirmed its commitment to work with Nigeria on shared goals such as economic development and peace in the region, and urged all nations to respect Nigeria’s independence.

In a related development, the European Union (EU), has also defended Nigeria following President Trump’s threat on military action over alleged religious persecution.

The EU emphasized its respect for Nigeria’s sovereignty and commitment to promoting peace, interfaith dialogue, and human rights.

EU Ambassador to Nigeria Gautier Mignot stated that the EU is prepared to enhance support for peace and security in Nigeria and will continue its peacebuilding initiatives to foster unity.
