Nkhatabay Central Member of Parliament, Symon Vuwa Kaunda, has assured Malawians that hunger will soon be eradicated following the Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) return to power after a term in opposition.

Speaking after being sworn in, Kaunda highlighted ongoing and upcoming development initiatives in the Northern Region under the DPP administration.

“People have returned me to Parliament because of the key projects we initiated during our time in power five years ago, including road construction, the new Nkhatabay Hospital, and improved bus facilities,” Kaunda said. “Residents are eager to see these developments continue under the leadership of Professor Peter Mutharika.”

He emphasized the DPP’s commitment to improving lives in the Northern Region through initiatives such as the completion of Lakeshore Road, rehabilitation of the Mzuzu-Karonga Road, port development, rural electrification, free secondary education, and support for women and youth in business.

“Under President Mutharika, we anticipate measures to fight hunger, including the importation of maize from Zambia to ensure affordable food for vulnerable populations,” Kaunda added.

The MP reaffirmed the DPP’s pledge to deliver major development projects and tangible improvements in the daily lives of Malawians
