Silver Strikers ‘CAF Champions League’ coach Edson Kadenge Mwafulirwa has hailed his team’s effort and vowed to return stronger next season after being eliminated by Tanzania’s Yanga SC at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Saturday.

Reflecting on the 2-0 defeat, which saw Yanga overturn a first-leg deficit to win 2-1 on aggregate in their CAF Champions League tie, Mwafulirwa acknowledged the costly errors but remained upbeat about his team’s potential.

“Somewhere, we conceded goals we could have avoided,” he said after the match. “When we came here, we wanted to attack, but if we couldn’t score, maybe we should have defended better. Still, the team has shown real quality. If we sit down with the players and build on this, I know we can come back stronger next year. We have a good team.”

The atmosphere at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium was electric from kickoff, with Yanga setting the tone early. Dickson Job opened the scoring in the fifth minute, igniting the home crowd, before Pacome Zouzoua doubled the lead in the 33rd minute.

Yanga’s relentless pressure kept Silver Strikers on the back foot throughout the match. Despite the visitors’ determined defending, the Tanzanian champions held firm to seal their progression to the next round.
