In a heartwarming display of corporate social responsibility, the Institute of Marketing in Malawi has donated a substantial consignment of medical equipments to Salima District Hospital.

The donation, which has been warmly received by the hospital administration and staff, is set to significantly enhance the facility’s capacity to provide quality healthcare services to the community.

Steve Kumwembe, District Medical Officer for Salima, expressed his overwhelming gratitude to the Institute of Marketing for the generous donation.

“Actually, I am overwhelmingly happy, and I did not expect that they could bring in this kind of medical equipment. We started linking up three months ago, where they asked what they could bring to the district. So, as I was giving them the list, I thought that maybe they were just asking, but actually, what they have done is quite overwhelming.” Said Kumwembe.

Among the donated equipment are efficient monitors that will be utilized in the hospital’s High Dependence Unit (HDU), a critical care area that is slated to commence operations soon.

“This donation has made it possible for us to start the HDU as soon as possible. I can assure you that these equipment will go a long way, and they are sustainable.” Kumwembe noted.

Daniel Ngwira, Director of Communications, Public Relations, and CSR for the Institute of Marketing in Malawi, emphasized the significance of the event.

“Today is a special day, not only because it’s our annual conference, but also because we’re taking the opportunity to give back to the community. We’ve donated various medical items to Salima District Hospital, and we’re proud to be playing our part in supporting our healthcare system.” He said.

Ngwira highlighted the challenges faced by hospitals in Malawi, particularly in a district like Salima with a population of nearly 6,000 people.

“As NGOs and professional bodies, we can collaborate with the government to support our hospitals. When hospitals have the necessary resources, it benefits the Ministry of Health and the entire population.” Ngwira Conluded.
