Misuku Hills Motorhino Eco Rally to kick off with global participation- Malawi24

The Misuku Hills Motorhino Eco Rally in Chitipa is poised to take place on October 25, 2025, marking the third consecutive year of the event. The rally has gained international interest, with 50 motorcyclists expected to participate.

Despite initial uncertainties following the loss of former Chitipa East parliamentarian Kezzie Msukwa, who was instrumental in the event’s inception, the Misuku community and Chitipa District Council have taken the reins to ensure the rally’s continuation.

Motorhino, a Danish motorcycle company, remains the primary financier, with a three-year contract in place.

Country director Barros Mweso confirmed the company will continue funding the event through next year.

The rally boasts a total value of MK20 million, with MK4 million allocated for community projects, including beehives and internet connectivity.

Prizes for the top three competitors are significant: MK1.5 million for first place, MK1 million for second, and MK500,000 for third. Participants are required to pay a MK10,000 commitment fee to enter.

The rally, funded initially through the Constituency Development Fund, aims to promote forest conservation in the Misuku Hills and stimulate tourism in the region.
