Police for safe Mother's Day celebrations - Malawi24

As Mother’s Day approaches, the Malawi Police Service is kicking into action to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for all.

Superintendent Alfred Chimthere, National Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, announces that comprehensive security measures are being put in place across all regions.

Police officers, both in uniform and plain clothes, are being deployed on patrol duties, keeping a watchful eye on entertainment places, beaches, and other areas where large crowds are expected to gather. Traffic enforcement operations are being intensified, and intelligence collection is being enhanced in identified crime-prone areas.

The police service is also reminding citizens to observe water safety guidelines and wear life jackets while swimming. “We remind our citizens, especially those planning to travel to the lake or other recreational areas, to strictly observe water safety guidelines. For example, those engaged in swimming must wear life jackets at all times to avoid drowning incidents,” says Superintendent Chimthere.

The Malawi Police Service wishes all mothers a happy and blessed Mother’s Day.  “As the Malawi Police Service, we wish all Malawians, particularly mothers, a happy and crime-free Mother’s Day,” he said.

Chimthere further urged the public to stay cooperative and supportive in maintaining peace and security.
