Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba has urged the Catholic Women Association (CWA) in the Diocese of Zomba to always remain humble and gentle as they serve in the Church.
Bishop Chaima made these remarks during the closing of a four-day annual general meeting of the CWA in the Diocese of Zomba, which took place at St. Peter’s Major Seminary.
He thanked the CWA women for organising the annual general meeting to discuss issues related to the development of their association and the Church.
He also encouraged them to apply what they had discussed in the meeting in their daily lives, starting in their families and extending to their church communities.
Bishop Chaima advised the CWA members to teach their children good morals so that they grow up with values and a love for prayer.
In addition, the Bishop reminded all the women at the meeting to pray for the upcoming general election scheduled for September 16, urging them to ensure it proceeds peacefully and to vote wisely for candidates who can develop the country.
“For someone to serve well in the Church, they must be humble, and I ask every CWA member to be humble and gentle,” he said.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of the Catholic Women Association (CWA) in the Diocese of Zomba Christina Lakiyoni, thanked all the women who participated in the meeting and urged them to share what they learned with others in their respective parishes.
Lakiyoni encouraged women facing abuse at home or in the workplace to come forward and report the abuse they are experiencing.
More than 500 women from all 20 parishes within the Diocese of Zomba attended the meeting.
