Chikondi Lisimba Mpokosa, aspiring to become a Member of Parliament for the Zomba Malosa constituency under the National Development Party (NDP), has stressed that Constituency Development Fund (CDF) funds are allocated for development projects, not coffin purchases.
Mpokosa made the remarks during political rallies aimed at garnering support from voters, which were held in the areas of Domasi, Naming’azi, and Chitenjere.
She criticised the current MP who has served the area for the past six years, saying that no tangible development has taken place because the development funds were misused, spent on buying coffins and doing charity work instead of carrying out proper developmental initiatives.
Lisimba Mpokosa promised that if elected in the upcoming elections on September 16, his priority would be to ensure access to clean piped water, irrigation farming, and that local health facilities are well stocked with medicines.
She urged the people of Zomba Malosa to vote for him and also to vote for NDP ward councillor candidates so that development can be spread across all areas.
“Some people misuse CDF money and treat it as their personal funds. I want to bring real development to this area,” she said.
Speaking at the event, Senior Group Village Head Mtogolo said local chiefs have agreed to closely monitor the use of CDF funds because some MPs have not used the funds properly.
GVH Mtogolo emphasised that CDF money is not meant for campaigning by buying coffins for people but should be used to bring development to the communities.
Also speaking at the rally, Barnet Sailesi, who is contesting as a councillor in Naming’azi Ward, urged people to open their eyes and vote wisely by voting for Lisimba Mpokosa as their Legislator and himself as their ward councillor.
