Jane Ansah defends her credibility, promises local funding solutions in Nkhata Bay

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) running mate Jane Ansah has dismissed trust issues people may have over her credibility owing to the 2019 elections.

Speaking at the Mpamba Trading Centre in Nkhata Bay, Ansah said the electoral issue was dealt with.

“There was no electoral mismanagement. Arthur Peter Mutharika has appointed me to help him when he goes to the government. The other thing is history; it was dealt with. Let us move forward,” she said.

Commenting on funding mechanisms that would foot promises the party has in its manifesto, Ansah said the money will be generated locally.

“We have money in our country, just that it is mismanaged,” she said.

Ansah’s remarks sought to assure Malawians that her controversial past role in the 2019 elections should not overshadow her capacity to serve in government.

By emphasising that local resources could be harnessed to fund development, she projected a message of self-reliance and financial accountability.

The event in Nkhata Bay not only highlighted the DPP’s campaign focus but also reignited debate on the credibility of past electoral processes in Malawi.

In conclusion, while Ansah’s confidence may reassure some supporters, her comments reflect the lingering tension between political trust and historical controversies.

How she navigates this balance will be crucial in shaping public perception as the campaign advances.
