UTM declares alliance with the people, not political parties, ahead of September 16 Elections
The United Transformation Movement (UTM) spokesperson Felix Njawala has acknowledged calls for the party to form alliances ahead of the September 16 General Election.
He declared, however, that UTM is already in an alliance with the Malawian people.
Njawala made these remarks today during the launch of the party’s manifesto in Lilongwe.
He further vowed that the party president, Dalitso Kabambe, will appear on the presidential ballot.
The statement underscores UTM’s strategy to prioritise citizen engagement over formal political alliances.
It signals the party’s intent to maintain an independent stance while mobilising Malawians who desire meaningful change.
Concluding Analysis
By framing its relationship as an “alliance with the people,” UTM positions itself as a grassroots movement rather than a party dependent on political coalitions.
This messaging aims to resonate with voters frustrated by traditional party politics and looking for leaders committed to reform.
UTM’s approach highlights its focus on principles, citizen empowerment, and the presidential ambitions of Dalitso Kabambe.
As Malawi approaches the September 16 elections, the party’s strategy could strengthen its appeal among voters seeking a credible alternative to established political forces.
