Usi urges leaders to separate party politics from government work

Vice President Michael Usi, who is also the leader of the Odyazake Alibe Mulandu Party, has said that the role of government is not to intimidate people but to serve and guide them.

Usi emphasised that leaders must learn to apologise when certain things are not going well under their administration.

He stressed the importance of clearly distinguishing between government duties and political party activities.

According to Usi, the mixing of party work with government functions has been one of the major factors contributing to the country’s problems.

He underscored that if he is elected as the country’s president, he will ensure that all individuals involved in the misuse of public funds are held accountable.

This accountability, he said, would include prosecution and immediate imprisonment for those found guilty.

Usi made these remarks in Chigumula, Blantyre, while addressing a series of roadside meetings during his trip to Mulanje.

His comments reflect a strong stance on governance reforms and the need for ethical leadership in Malawi.

By calling for a clear separation between party politics and state functions, Usi positioned himself as a proponent of transparency and good governance.
