Chakwera highlights youth empowerment, development projects in Chitipa amid vote appeal

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has stated that the abolition of the quota system has allowed deserving youths to access tertiary education in public universities without hindrance.

Speaking during a whistle-stop tour at Kapoka Trading Centre in Chitipa District, the President emphasised that his government has established a strong foundation for youths and women.

He highlighted key achievements such as the easy access youth now have to tertiary education, as well as women and youth benefiting from loans provided by the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF).

President Chakwera also mentioned the construction of houses for security personnel and the development of irrigation schemes in Chitipa, Mwafulira, and other areas as part of efforts to eradicate poverty.

During his visit, the President appealed to the people of Chitipa to support him in the upcoming elections, promising to continue developmental projects across the district and the country at large.

Reuben Lusayo Pwele, Shadow Member of Parliament for Chitipa Chendo Constituency, expressed gratitude to the MCP-led government for increasing farm gate prices, noting that farmers are now receiving better returns for their produce.

Pwele also assured President Chakwera of his constituency’s vote in the forthcoming polls.

President Chakwera concluded his tour of Chitipa District after attending a Super League football game, inaugurating the Nthalire Community Hospital, and conducting whistle-stop visits at Chitipa Boma, Misuku, and Kapoka trading centres.
