The Executive Golf Tournament, themed “Swinging into the Mutual Future”, wrapped up on Saturday in Blantyre with an emphatic call for young and aspiring golfers to embrace resilience as a core value in their game.
Men’s category winner, Godwin Chinseu, who mastered the challenging course conditions, said golf demands patience and persistence.
“The course today was tough, soft greens and fairways meant you had to be precise,” he said. The message for young golfers is resilience, because golf can be frustrating. One day you play well, the other badly. Even within a round, you can start strong but lose ground later. The important thing is to keep going.”
The tournament also saw Maria Tandwe triumph in the women’s category, while Boniface Chima took top honours in the seniors’ category.
The organisers, Old Mutual Group, through the Chief Executive Officer, Tavona Biza, said the event successfully brought together stakeholders, customers, and partners while promoting excellence.
“We are committed to supporting initiatives that inspire growth, community connection, and achievement,” he said.
The ceremony also paid tribute to the late golfing legend and former Old Mutual Group CEO, Chris Kapanga, who died on Saturday, August 9, 2025, with a one-minute silence in his honour.
