Despite that the Bible does not explicitly encourage individuals to predict their own deaths, Nigerian pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has expressed his vision of a peaceful death, anticipating he will pass away on a Sunday after church and enjoying pounded yam. He shared this during the church’s International Convention, “The Overcomers.”

According to Punch Newspaper, Adeboye emphasized that death can be sudden and painless, stating, “I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness.”

In his sermon, “Possess Your Possessions,” he urged believers to actively claim their spiritual blessings, stressing the need to resist spiritual opposition. He highlighted healing, prosperity, and long life as areas requiring perseverance.

He criticized the double standards faced by successful Christians, saying, “If you make it as a Christian, they criticise you.” Concluding, he encouraged the congregation to reject oppression and fight for their spiritual inheritance.
