The Officer In-Charge responsible for Machinga Police Station, Deputy Commissioner Jane Mandala has warned all bar owners in Machinga town to operate their bars within time.
Deputy Commissioner Mandala was speaking at Machinga Police Station during the meeting with bar owners.
The Officer in Charge started by recommending the relationship which exists between the police and members of the community in Machinga.
Mandala asked bar owners to observe legal bounds by, among others, paying licences for their business, which regulate them on time for business operations.
She told them that a lot of criminals are fond of seeking refuge in bars and bottle stores, waiting for their hit time.
The Deputy Commissioner further advised them to be vigilant and to report to the police for any suspicious faces within town.
Speaking on behalf of all bar owners and bottle stores, Willy Makawa started by thanking Machinga Police Officer In-Charge for organising such a vital meeting.
Makawa assured the police that going forward, they will abide by the laws indicated on their business licences and further join the police to fight crime through information sharing.
The Station Community Policing Coordinator, Sub Inspector Masautso Katemera, thanked the Officer In-Charge for addressing the business community.
