The gaming market is continuing to grow exponentially and is one of the most lucrative digital channels to engage with audiences. Gaming is now embedded into people’s lives with options across PC, consoles and the increasing technological advance of smartphones.
The health of the gaming market in 2025 appears better than ever. Despite economic ups and downs, a large number of consumers still choose gaming as a surefire way to connect to others with similar interests. It is a unique strength of the industry to connect communities across diverse groups.
The games are rolling off the shelves and downloads in 2025. There have already been several strong entries but here are some of the best that are out there in the first half of the year.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
The latest entry in the Assassin’s series has been memorable for reviews and sales, especially in the United States. With almost two decades of history behind the title, there is a huge catalogue to live up to.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows does that with some of the best combat scenes seen yet between the duel protagonists. The gameplay is deep and captivating and technically superb as is the backdrop and scenery.
One of the best parts of Shadows is that it can be played as a standalone game. Players do not need to have played any of the previous series as the plot of this one is unique.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sounds like another script from the churn factory. Civilization in peril. People die. Save humanity. It’s much more rounded than that. The characters are really fleshed out and brings gravitas to the narrative. There’s even a speaking part for Andy Serkis.
There are five playable heroes and although the dodging and parrying aspect of the title takes some time, combat can be very satisfying. Clair Obscur is that rare RPG beast that makes things soulful along the way.
The Rise of Online Bingo
Online bingo is another change of pace, but it is one of the most popular games to play in 2025. There are many variants that can be played on a smartphone and because of its social popularity in physical locations, it retains its gameplay online. One of the most popular games is called Slingo, which is a combination of the ever popular slots with bingo. It’s a very clever spin on two of the most popular games of chance.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has depth. It needs the gamer’s full attention. There’s nothing plug and play here, but if you are in it for the long haul then it’s a rewarding experience.
Perhaps learning from the first edition, the makers have made the terrain even more captivating. Kingdom 2 is an RPG where you can talk or fight to survive in a world full of danger and overwhelming space.
There are nobles, lords, criminals and only the fittest survive in an interconnected world where every street and avenue is captured in ambient detail. It’s monumental and brutal.
2025 still has its most eagerly anticipated game with the release of GTA 6 expected in the autumn. It’s been a decade since the previous edition of Grand Theft Auto, so, by definition, this one has to be the very best with such a very long lead time.
In the meantime, 2025 is just another example of how gaming has become a bigger industry than movies and sports combined. The future will continue to use VR, AR and Artificial Intelligence to improve game assets. There will be more cloud gaming and mobile will continue to grow too.
There are no limits to human intelligence making play as real and meaningful as possible. No amount of predictions can really sum up what to expect. That’s half the fun.
