Fresh from their dramatic Airtel Top 8 victory, players of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have even more reason to celebrate as their official sponsors, First Capital Bank (FCB), have gifted each of them K500,000 in recognition of their achievement.
The People’s Team edged Silver Strikers 4-3 in post-match penalties on Sunday at Bingu National Stadium after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time. The win sealed Bullets’ fourth Airtel Top 8 title, further cementing their dominance in domestic football.
Speaking on behalf of FCB, Head of Marketing and Communication Twikale Chirwa confirmed the cash reward on Monday, describing it as a token of appreciation for the team’s fighting spirit and consistency.
“FCB is proud of the boys and encouraged by the 13th player, Maule. In addition to the team’s performance, the Maule fans continue to decide games, morale, sponsorship, and the club’s future. The players are inspired to do wonders year in and year out, and as such, FCB has decided to award each player K500,000,” Chirwa said.
According to Chirwa, FCB is spoiling all 20 players on the squad to Lilongwe, including those on the bench.
Earlier this month, the Bank also spoiled Silver Strikers players K1 million each for beating the same Bullets in a friendly match dubbed “FCB at 30 Trophy”.
This is the fourth time Bullets have been crowned Airtel Top Eight Champions and will cart home K35 million, while Silver Strikers get K12 million as runners-up
