K43 million donation to boost health service delivery at Nkhotakota Hospital
Health service delivery at Nkhotakota District Hospital is set to improve following a donation of essential medical equipment worth approximately US$25,000 (about MK43 million) by Reverend Father Andrew Banda, Founder and Director of Chankhasi Private Schools and Smart Village Clinic.
The equipment, which includes a modern blood pressure monitoring machine, a wheelchair, and other critical medical supplies, is expected to ease pressure on the facility and improve care for patients, especially in diagnostics and mobility support.
Speaking during the handover, Reverend Father Banda, who is also based in Nkhandwe Village under Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota, said the donation reflects his commitment to supporting government efforts in strengthening healthcare systems.
Reverend Father Banda further said building a better Malawi is a shared responsibility, saying while the government plays a central role, real progress in areas like health, education and community development, depends on the support and involvement of all citizens.
“As a citizen of Malawi, I firmly believe it is the responsibility of every individual to collaborate with the government, particularly in crucial sectors such as health,” he said.
This is the second donation by Reverend Father Banda in a matter of days. Earlier, he made a similar contribution to Saint Anne’s Anglican Hospital, also in Nkhotakota District.
Hospital officials at Nkhotakota District Hospital welcomed the donation, describing it as timely and impactful, especially at a time when many public hospitals are struggling with limited resources.
