CCTV capturing the night the convicted sex offender and child trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein, died is missing close to 3 minutes. WIRED, the American publication, has uncovered damning evidence that undermines the authenticity and credibility of the FBI’s official surveillance video from outside Epstein’s cell, which had been made public.
More damning is the publication’s finding that the footage was not “raw,” as claimed by the United States Department of Justice.
Instead, the CCTV had been stitched together in Adobe Premiere Pro from different video files. Further analysis shows that approximately 2 minutes and 53 seconds are missing from one of the clips. “It is unclear what, if anything, the minutes cut from the first clip showed,” WIRED noted. The cut occurred just before a system reset that officials claimed caused a routine one-minute gap.
Who is behind the stitching or cutting of the footage remains unknown. It is further not known whether the FBI or the DOJ were privy to the fact that the footage was stitched together in a Hollywood-like studio or whether critical footage was cut.
It is, however, clear that the removal of this footage raises serious concerns which could shroud the circumstances surrounding Epstein’s death.
Epstein was connected to global elites, including politicians, business leaders, and royalty. Allegations have long circulated that he was acting as an operative for a foreign power, gathering compromising material on influential individuals. The country he may have worked for remains unknown. Among those within his inner circle were members of the British royal family, senior politicians, and entertainment moguls across the world — including individuals from several African countries.
While no formal links to Malawi or South Africa have been established, there has been quiet speculation about his associations with political and business elites in parts of Southern Africa. Thus, his death was shrouded in speculation, with many suspecting foul play from those who were compromised by the documents he collected on them.
During his presidential campaign, the current United States President Donald Trump had secured a wave of support from the electorate on the promise to release Epstein’s client list to the American public. However, after defeating the Democrats and President Joe Biden, Trump changed his tone. Just recently, he dismissed public calls to release the list, saying it was time to “move on from still talking about this creep.”
Trump bashed a reporter who asked about Epstein. He responded sharply: “Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy’s been talked about for years. Are people still talking about this guy, this creep? That is unbelievable. Do you want to waste the time?”
“I can’t believe you’re asking a question on Epstein. It just seems like a desecration.”
This abrupt change coincided with a statement by Elon Musk, the American oligarch and former Trump right-hand man, who publicly claimed last month that Trump himself is on the Epstein list.
The fallout between the two oligarchs was swift and public. In a now-deleted tweet posted on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Musk claimed Trump was deliberately keeping Epstein-related files from the public because his name appears among them.
Soon after Musk’s allegations last month, Trump’s rhetoric shifted, and he has since avoided all further discussion of the case. However, pressure on the Trump regime to declassify the Epstein files remains unrelenting.
