Heaven Is Better: Gospel singer Lemani sings through struggle

Despite facing ongoing financial hardships, gospel artist Josephy Lemani refuses to be silenced. On June 28, he released his newest single, Kumwamba Ndikwabwino — “Heaven Is Better” — a soulful, traditional gospel track that speaks directly to those battling despair.

The release comes as a testament to Lemani’s resilience and calling. “This song is about hope,” he says. “Heaven is a place we all look forward to, especially when life becomes tough. It’s a reminder that God has better things prepared for us.”

Though currently available only in audios, a music video is in production and expected to premiere within the next two months. Lemani says delays caused by budget constraints haven’t stopped him. “The message is too important to wait.”

To bring the song to a wider audience, Lemani is organizing a gospel festival on August 10 at Muzu Assemblies of God in Mtandire, Lilongwe. The event will serve as a prelude to the single’s official launch, with an exact date to be announced.

Lemani’s journey began in 2023, and in just two years, he has composed and recorded 13 original gospel songs — enough for a full-length album. But while his message is powerful, limited resources have kept his voice from reaching its full audience.

“I have songs with powerful messages, but without proper funding, production quality suffers, and so does visibility,” he admits. “Money often makes things look valuable, even when they’re not. Meanwhile, something truly meaningful can appear worthless without money.”

Still, his mission remains firm. “I can’t stop singing just because progress is slow,” Lemani says. “Even if the message reaches only a few people, I believe God always ensures it reaches the right ones.”

Now, he’s appealing to the public and potential sponsors for support. “With the right backing, my music can touch more lives. It’s not about fame — it’s about spreading hope.”

In a time when many artists fade under pressure, Lemani’s determination to create faith-driven music stands out. As anticipation grows for his music video and festival appearance, one thing remains clear: his faith is stronger than his struggle.
