Silver Strikers Head Coach Peter Mgangira has called on his squad to rise to the occasion and show their true mettle as they gear up for a crucial Airtel Top 8 semifinal clash against Civil Service United at Bingu National Stadium this Sunday.
Fresh off a 2-0 league victory over their city rivals earlier this month, the Central Bankers are looking to stamp their authority once again—this time with a spot in the final at stake.
“This is a new challenge and a different stage,” said Mgangira. “We are fully focused on this match. Our league win against Civil was important, but this is knockout football—every game is a fresh battle, and our mindset has to be sharper.”
Despite a recent 1-1 draw with Blue Eagles, Mgangira insists his squad has reset and is channelling all energy toward a strong semifinal performance.
“We’re back on the training ground with a renewed drive. Silver Strikers is a club that belongs in the finals, and the players understand what’s at stake. We’re approaching this game with confidence and purpose,” he emphasized.
The coach also confirmed a timely injury boost, with several key players returning to the fold.
“Forward Emmanuel Allan and defender Maxwell Paipi, who missed the last match, are back and looking sharp. That’s a big plus for us going into such a high-stakes fixture.”
With Karonga United and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets contesting the other semifinal, Mgangira knows the path to the trophy won’t be easy—but his message is clear: Silver Strikers are here to compete and conquer.
