As the Government of Malawi Awaits Requests from Citizens in Israel for Assistance to Return Home, the Tanzanian government has confirmed that its citizens in Israel and Iran are safe, following a week of missile attacks exchanged between the two countries.

In addition, urgent steps are being taken to ensure the safe return of Tanzanian nationals from both countries.

Through its embassies in Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (which represents Tanzania in Iran), Kuwait, and Israel, the government is working to compile a list of Tanzanians currently residing in the affected areas. This was revealed in a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to current information, there are 168 Tanzanians in Iran 134 of whom are students in the city of Qom, with another 34 in Tehran.

In Israel, it is estimated that over 200 Tanzanians are present, including embassy staff, students, and individuals working in various institutions. So far, 50 Tanzanians have registered for assistance to return home.

Despite the ongoing security challenges, the government has confirmed that the Tanzanian Embassy building in Israel was not affected by the recent Iranian missile strikes.

The statement further noted that no one was inside the embassy when the attacks occurred, and all embassy officials and their families are safe.
