Tito Mboweni Dies at 65

Tito Mboweni made history in 1999 when he became the first black governor of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), succeeding Chris Stals. He served in this role for a decade, following his tenure as the minister of labour in Nelson Mandela’s cabinet from 1994 to 1999.
