Malawi U-17 Girls beat Namibia 12-0

Malawi Under 17 National Football Team has beaten Namibia 12-0 in the COSAFA U-17 Girls Championship at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Malawi Under 17 National Girls football Team came into today’s game from a 4-1 defeat to South Africa.

Today, the girls dominated from the the first whistle to the end.

Rose Kadzele netted five goals, Faith Chinzimu scored three, Leticia Chinyamula got a double while Anna Baziliyo and Chikondi Mgodi got a goal each.

The win means Malawi have reached the semifinals of the COSAFA where they will face Zambia.

In an interview, Coach Trevor Kajawa expressed joy over the win.

“We managed to beat Namibia and I am happy that we have won the match,” he said

Kajawa added that the team’s next opponent Zambia is a good team but the girls will be prepared as they want to go all the way in the tournament which is being played as part of the Region 5 Youth Games.

In her remarks, Namibia coach Eveline Noreses accepted the result saying her team did not play well.

Namibia lost their first game 15-0 against South Africa at the tournament.
