The fight to clinch the Simso Innobuild Premier League and earn promotion to the Tnm Super League reaches a climax this weekend when the final fixtures of the Simso league will be played.

Yesterday, third placed Kadona Stars lost a chance to go top as they lost to Chintheche United at home by 2 goals to 1.

Goals from Obren Nkhambule and Kondwani Siliya were enough to punish Kadona at their own backyard and Marko Chiwaya scored a consolation goal.

Going into the game, Kadona were the favourite as they were left with two games to play which would have put them on 26 points. This is a tally which no other team could have reached as Chitipa United can get a maximum points of 25 points while Baka City and Mighty Rumphi Wanderers may finish with 24 points.

As it stands Baka City, are still topping the table tied on 21 points with Mighty Rumphi Wanderers but separated by goal difference.

Kadona Stars and Mzimba United are on number 3 and 4 respectively but tied on 20 points. Chitipa United are on position 5 with 19 points, Chintheche United on 6 with 18 points, Mayamiko stars with 13 points on 7th position and Ekwendeni United are anchoring the table with 6 points.
