Devotion: Refuse succumbing to Pressure

Daniel 3:17-18 “If it happens, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.  But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.”

When they were put under pressure to worship foreign god, Shadrach Meshach and Abednego refused to do so. They risked their lives because they trusted the Lord God Almighty. They refused to go against what they believed was right even if it meant risking their lives.

Peter and the Apostles are also another good example. When they were told to stop preaching about Jesus, they refused to obey men but rather they chose to obey God.

Act 5:29 “But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.”

If you want to remain strong in Christ, learn to say NO to some worldly demands. Stick to your Christian values ven if you are threatened by  death or sufferings.

Joh 12:25  “He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.”

What will you profit, if you get some worldly rewards or worldly recognitions but lose your own soul.

Matthew 16:26  “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?”

Learn to endure, learn to resist, learn to say NO to demands of the world. Be led by the Spirit not fear. Let your decisions be led by the Spirit of God. Refuse  the pressure of the world, the  pressure of your boss, refuse pressure of your mates.  Refuse pressure of money. Refuse pressure to be accepted in society or pressure for recognition.

CONFESSION

I am led by the Spirit. I refuse to bow down to the pressures of the world. I say No to the demands of the world. In Jesus Name. Amen
