Dedza District Football Association yesterday launched the 2022/23 edition of the K3 million Dedza District Football League which is sponsored by St Louis High School.

Sixteen teams from Dedza district are expected to participate in this year’s Dedza district St Louis High School league.

Speaking during the launch of the league at Bembeke Demonstration School ground, Deputy headteacher of St Louis High School Eston Mtambalika encouraged all teams to work hard so that more talent can be produced at the end of the season.

In his remarks, Dedza District Commissioner Emmanuel Bambe hailed the school for sponsoring the league saying this will help the district to have more talent which will be used in top flight league in future.

Bambe, however, asked more stakeholders to come and sponsor different sporting disciplines in the district so that more talents can be produced.

Dedza District Football Association through its general secretary Chikumbutso Babu said the association will work hand in hand with teams as well as the sponsors so that the league can run in a peaceful manner.

“We expect high quality football from all teams who will participate and at the end of the season the best team will be the champions,” said Babu.

During the launch, defending Champions Lobi Young Soccer defeated Thete United who finished on second position in the league last season.
