Fake nurse sentenced to two years in prison

The Second Grade Magistrate’s Court in Rumphi has sentenced 23-year-old Febie Mfune to two years in prison for posing as a nurse at Bolero Health Centre in the district.

The court handed out the sentence yesterday.

Mfune committed the crime on 24 and 27 October this year.

Prosecutor Haniphe Mwanza told the court that Mfune reported at Bolero health centre as a newly trained nurse.

She claimed to have been sent to Bolero Health Centre by Rumphi district health office.

At the health centre, Mfune was asked to produce her professional documents to work at the facility.

She was advised by the hospital In-charge, Wisdom Mnyimbiri to go back and bring relevant documents which she failed.

She was arrested and in court
Mfune pleaded guilty to charges levelled against her and asked for leniency.

In her ruling, Second Grade Magistrate Her Worship Chikumbutso Kachipande slapped her with two-year jail term with hard labour saying her actions put lives of many people at risk.

Mfune comes from Traditional Authority Chikulamayembe in the district.
