Non-league club want to sign Haaland

Ashton United, a club which plays in the seventh tier or English football, has submitted a bid to sign Manchester City striker Erling Haaland on loan.

With the current Premier League champions not in action until late December due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Ashton submitted a 28-day loan approach for Haaland.

The Northern Premier League Premier Division side said it wants to keep Haaland match fit with him not being involved in Qatar.

Manager Michael Clegg said: “It just makes sense.

“City aren’t playing, and we want to help by keeping Erling fit, it makes more sense than him playing golf for six weeks.

“We think he will be a great fit for us,and would slot in with our squad dynamic really well.”

Ashton is just six miles from City’s Etihad Stadium home and the town

The transfer window is still open in non-league so it is possible for Haaland to play for Ashton which play just six miles from City’s Etihad Stadium.

The non-league club is yet to receive any response from Manchester City.

However, City manager Pep Guardiola said recently that Haaland is going to spend the break on holiday in Marbella and back in Norway with his family before returning to training with City.

The defending champions are second in the Premier League and Haaland is the leading goal scorer with 18 goals in the league. The 22-year-old striker has also scored five goals in the UEFA Champions League.
