Former Super League side Chitipa United are leading the SIMSO Innobuild League and coach Gift Nathaniel Mkamanga has expressed hope that his side will return to the Super League.

On Sunday, an early goal from Aaron Kayira was enough to give Chitipa United maximum points over Chintheche United at Chiwaza ground in Nkhatabay to reach 20 points, four points above second placed Kadona Stars who were held by unpredictable Mayamiko Stars at Mudyaka.

After the game, Coach for Chitipa United Gift Nathaniel Mkamanga said his side is determined to keep the momentum in order to return to the Super League.

“We did everything we had to do to win this game, I told my players that we have to do everything to win this game so as to extend our lead as you know the league has reached its climax,” Mkamanga said.

Millan Banda Coach for Chintheche United described the loss as painful.

“We conceded a silly goal early into the game and we were playing under pressure the entire game but it was a 50-50 game, we will now focus on our remaining games” said Banda.

At Mudyaka in Nkhatabay, visitors Mayamiko Stars gave away their lead twice to draw 2 all against Kadona Stars while at Rumphi Stadium Mighty Rumphi Wanderers beat Baka City 2-1.

Simso Innobuild League continues today with Mzimba United hosting bottom placed Ekwendeni United at Chiwanja ground.
