Financial service provider, Old Mutual Malawi Ltd, has boosted the Institute of People Management Malawi (IPMM) conference with K3 million.
Speaking at a cheque presentation on Wednesday November in Blantyre, Group Human Capital Executive for Old Mutual Malawi Ltd, Rex Kadzongwe, said the drive is to help IPMM Malawi have a successful conference which today, Thursday to Saturday in Mangochi.
Kadzongwe reported that Old Mutual Malawi Ltd is so hopeful that with the K3 million donation, IPMM will strive to make sure that Human resources managers have sufficient skills to withstand emerging issues.
He said the company values a lot the role IPMM plays which he said is contributing to the development of Human Resource profession in Malawi and has committed to always render support to body.
The Group Human Capital Executive for Old Mutual Malawi Ltd further added that the conference is so vital to the company as it will provide an opportunity to their employees who are members of IPMM to acquire much-needed skills for the HR profession.
“As an employer of choice, we are delighted to support the annual conference as they provide our staff in the Human Resource Management profession, the opportunity to share knowledge and reflect on the new trends in the field.
“The Human Resources profession is very dynamic because it responds to the need of the business which is also dynamic and now the business is being affected by various issues, for example Covid-19 and it is the responsibility of HRs to make sure that people are delivering in their businesses even in those tough situations, so that is why we thought of donating towards the conference,” said Kadzongwe.
Speaking after receiving the donation, IPMM Treasurer General, Chisomo Chaduka thanked Old Mutual for the gesture saying it will help his organisation to have a successful annual conference.
“What we have witnessed today is a gesture of passion from Old Mutual and we are very thankful for giving us K3 million. This is going to go a very long way in enhancing skill of our members since we have invited several speakers,” said Chaduka.
He then asked human resources practitioners in the country to uphold high level of integrity and ethical behaviour in order to promote sustainable social economic development.
The Institute of People Management Malawi which was established in 1984 and registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act, is a professional membership body representing Human Resources and People Management fraternity in Malawi.
