Police officer to be disciplined after firing teargas into his house

A Malawi Police officer based in Thyolo will face disciplinary action after firing teargas into his house.

The officer Peter Messa of Goliati Police Unit in Thyolo, allegedly fired teargas into the house after locking his wife and two children inside the house following a dispute.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening in Thyolo  and the mother and children were rescued from the alleged abuse following the intervention of  well-wishers and other police.

Thyolo Police Spokesperson Amos Tione, confirmed to the local media that the officer fired teargas into his house. He, however, claimed that it was an accidental discharge. He added the officer concerned will be summoned for disciplinary action.
