President Peter Mutharika has appointed three new High Court judges.
The three are private practise lawyer Jabber Alide, Chairperson of the Industrial Relations Court Chimwemwe Kamowa and Chief Resident Magistrate in Zomba Texious Masoamphambe.
According to the Office of the President and Cabinet, Mutharika has used powers conferred upon him by Section 111 (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi to appoint the judges.
The Office of the President adds that the appointments are with immediate effect.
The appointments come more than a month after five high court judges sitting as a Constitutional Court ruled that Mutharika was not duly elected as president in the 2019 elections and ordered the electoral commission to conduct fresh elections
Mutharika is appealing against the ruling at the Supreme Court of Appeal.
Malawians should stop taking oaths using the holy Bible. They are taking God in vain, and that can provoke His anger. I suggest that when taking oath, they should just read the oaths and sign for them, with exclusion of mentioning spiritual items.
There is need to tremble at the Word of God. In the old times of Moses and the Israel of the true prophets, even during the New Testament Times of Jesus Christ, those played with God’s holy vessels, God judged them. Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar and those in Israel. That same Sovereign God, is still present and in control. Let us fear and tremble by sanctifying the holy things of God.
