Reports show that two other MCP supporters also suffered injuries when the MCP followers clashed with riot police at Kanengo in Lilongwe.

The group of MCP supporters was demanding the release of a container full of campaign materials which arrived in the country on Tuesday but was seized by the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA).

The MCP supporters camped at the gate of MRA offices in Kanengo waiting for the release of the campaign materials.

They later moved 300 meters from the MRA gate but police officers followed the group and fired teargas at them.

A video shared on social media shows the injured MCP supporters with other members of the group saying the police run away after firing the teargas.
