Having starred in Chiwetel Ejiofor’s directorial debut The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind, Malawian actress Lily Banda returns on the big screen but this time in Deep State Season 2.

The British Television series will premier next week, 15th May on Fox. This follows a number of the series’ screening in different countries.

Banda: Rising

In the drama, she plays Aïcha Konaté, a young Malian woman working as a translator and eventually finds herself neck deep in conspiracy.

The second season is about the deep state being on the verge of winning big from a US Government deal being brokered with Mali, where the Western world has an insatiable appetite for its vast natural resources.

The series involves big names, the likes of Game of Thrones’ Joe Dempsie, The Night Manager’s Alistair Petrie and Damages’ Anastasia Griffith who return for the second edition.

Malawians can’t help but wait in anticipation as daughter of the land will be flying the national colours higher. Banda is the only Malawian who was given a major role in The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind, which is based on William Kamkwamba’s true story.
