President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM) has criticized some opposition parties in the country for disparaging development projects his government is implementing in the country.

Speaking at Dowa boma during whistle stop tour, APM said his government has implemented a lot of projects in the district as well as the country but it is very embarrassing that some opposition parties are criticizing every development his government is implementing in the country.

He said his government has done a lot in developing the country and it is very necessary that people should vote wisely come May 21 for the continuation of developments DPP led government is implementing.

”The opposition parties are always busy criticizing the projects we are implementing. But we are not going to tolerate to their critics. We will continue with our projects as we are aiming at improving standards of living especially to the poor people,” he challenged.

The President also urged people in Dowa to vote for ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for continuation of developments his government is implementing in the district as well as the country.

APM mentioned construction of Dowa –Chezi road, malata subsidy program, social cash transfer and maize distribution under Malawi vulnerability assessment committee (MVAC) as some of the developments he has implemented in the district.

“As DPP led government, we have implemented a lot of projects here in Dowa as well as Malawi at large. Therefore I am urging you people here in Dowa to vote for the ruling DPP for the continuation of developments we are delivering,” he said.

In his remarks, DPPs vice president for the central region Uladi Mussa concurred with APM that the DPP led government will continue with farm input subsidy program only that they will increase number of beneficiaries as  the program has managed to reduce hunger in the country  hence need for the continuation.

In his speech, Traditional Authority (T/A) Msakambewa commended DPP led government for the developmental projects it has brought in the district.

He however pleaded with Government to extend Dowa district hospital as it caters the large population of the district.

“The DPP led government under the prolific and dynamic leadership of APM has done a commendable job in this district. We really appreciate for that. Let me take this opportunity to ask the government that they should extend and renovate our district hospital as it covers the highest population of the district,” he said.

APM’s whistle stop tours started from Nalunga, Dowa Boma, Chimbuli, Nawuchi and Manthimba trading centers whereby he is mobilizing people to vote for ruling DPP.
