President Peter Mutharika says if the Democratic Progressive Party is given another opportunity to rule this country it will ensure that everyone enjoys good healthcare.
Mutharika said this during the launch of Malawi Health Situation Room staged at Bingu International Convention Center-BICC in Lilongwe.
Overall the newly introduced program aims at monitoring how health services are being run for the betterment of people.
Addressing the gathering, President Mutharika said this program is in line with his mission of apprehending challenges torturing health sector in the country.
According to Mutharika, Malawians can bear witness to government’s commitment in ensuring good health to the citizens across the country.
“Nobody can argue that good health to any human being is not a privilege but is right therefore everyone has to access health facilities without being infringed. In 2014 when my government came into power the health sector had a lot of challenges that led to poor delivery but we fought a good fight and today the story is no longer the same. From 2014 we have managed to move from 30 percent to 73 percent, a good development indeed,” said Mutharika.
Making appearance before president Mutharika at the podium, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Population Dan Namarika assured the gathering that the Health Situation Room will help in tracking issues relating to health.
For instance, according to Namarika, health providers will easily note areas government has to come in fast and deliver support only to encourage good health to people.
“This initiative is crucial and we expect a great transformation in health sector. As health sector somehow we have been struggling to work in accordance to the satisfaction of the people. But now because of this program health providers will be able to track health related issues like HIV/AIDS treatment, cervical cancer and health providers will easily identify areas running out of resources,” Namarika narrated.
Development communities funding the program include UNAIDS and Global Health.
