Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) running mate Everton Chimulirenji held whistle stop rallies in four constituencies in Ntcheu where he presented UTM members who have defected to the ruling party.

The first rally was staged at Bwanje south constituency at sub-T/A Nkutumula ground.

Former UTM Chairlady for the area Esther Zinkanda and other members said they decided to change bench from UTM to Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) following Chimulirenji’s promises that more developments will be implemented in the constituencies during DPP’s second term.

During the rally, Chimulirenji urged people to avoid politics of castigations and concentrate on developmental issues that will change people’s lives.

He added that the DPP will continue focusing on development projects if it retains power.

“Malata and Cement, fertiliser subsidy, improving education standards, good road networks, and good health facilities just to mention but a few are in DPP’s plans,” said Chimulirenji.

“Ntcheu district has seven constituencies with all seven Members of Parliament from the 2014 tripartite elections belonging to DPP so we are not afraid,” he said.

Chimulirenji then told the DPP supporters not to vote for those who are disgruntled and rebellious during the May elections.
