Malawi will industrialise in five more years of DPP Govt – Mutharika

President Peter Mutharika has said the country will industrialise in five more years of his leadership.

He said this when he officially launched the 95 Kilometer Lilongwe-Kasiya-Santhe road at Kasiya Community Ground in Traditional Authority (T/A) Khongoni in Lilongwe on Wednesday.

Mutharika urged Malawians to give his party a second term saying the country will develop.

“I want Malawi to industrialize in the next five years when you vote for DPP led government. Malawi is for Malawians, nobody will stop us from improving the lives of Malawians for together we are unshakeable and unstoppable,” Mutharika said.

The Malawi leader expressed hope that the road will improves livelihoods and help reduce poverty in the country.

In his remarks, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Jappie Mhango said Mutharika is committed to implementing the projects he promised to fulfil in 2014.

“Recently, the President opened the Mzuzu- Nkhatabay and Karonga-Songwe roads and today he has officially launched this road. The durable roads that his government has constructed will help in promoting transportation in the country,” Mhango said.

Traditional Authority Khongoni hailed Mutharika for implementing projects that were in DPP’s manifest.

“Many leaders in the past made empty promises regarding the same as such we are grateful to the ruling government for this development,” said Khongoni.

Khongoni added: “The road will save a lot of time to users which will eventually allow them to engage in other developmental activities. It will also boost agriculture and trade as it will allow farmers and businessmen to ably transport goods across the country.”

Construction of the Lilongwe-Kasiya-Santhe road started in August, 2015 and it was projected to end in August, 2019. The road has been built by Mota Engil.

  1. Big liar and big fool. You have failed in your four years in power and you talk too much without action. At one time you talked about Malawi becoming Europe in a short time. The fact is most of the roads you build are substandard, and other countries are building multi-lane motorways to meet future congestion. You are not a good planner for the country nor are you a mover and shaker. You have lost your control of the country to your wife.
