Devotion: control the mind

Proverbs 23:7: “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…”

A person is the reflection of his or her mind. Those who think they know something, they behave as such. Those who think they don’t know anything behave as such. Look at how university students behave. Even some first years  think they are better than any person they meet on the streets. They  behave in a funny way because of the image they had as  university students.

When we get born again it’s our spirit that gets born again, our body and mind remains the same. The same inferiority complex may still be in you till you renew your mind. The renewal of mind is very important and is what is referred to as Salvation or renewal of the soul or mind.

James 1:21. “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.”

As seen above, the soul is renewed by the Word and nothing else. As you feed on the Word, a new image of self is formed because the Word is the mirror and we are transformed into the same image we see on the mirror.

2 Cor 3:18(Amplified) “And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.”

When the mind is renewed by the Word, the person gets transformed.

Romans 12:2. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Take more and more Word to change your mind and transform your life forever.

Prayer

Thank you father for the Word which I use to transform my image and my life. Every day I am changed into the image which I see in the Word. In Jesus name. Amen.
