Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey on Sunday had a meeting with the party’s parliamentary and local council aspirants in the Northern Region where she shared with them tips for winning elections.

The meeting took place at Katoto main hall in Mzuzu where Jeffrey also gave the candidates their nomination papers.

In her remarks, Jeffrey urged the aspirants to campaign vigorously in their respective constituencies and wards.

“It’s not time to stay in towns, go back to your village or constituency to show your humbleness. Eat, wear and do whatever your people are doing,” she said.

Jeffrey also encouraged the DPP candidates to share what they have with people who always support them.

“Let us all have the heart of giving, not every time you visit home you should go there on your car, sometimes use the modest means of transport such as Kabaza and even walking on foot from one village to another, by doing that you will win the elections,” said Jeffrey.

On his part, DPP vice president for the North Goodall Gondwe who is also Minister of Finance said oneness will help the DPP to keep on winning.

“Where there is no oneness there is no peace and the DPP party want togetherness among supporters and this must start from the top to the bottom at area level,” said Gondwe.

He also hailed the party for managing to field candidates in all constituencies and wards across the country.

Former Attorney General Charles Mhango, legislator Malani Mtonga, advisor to the president on youth affairs Vuwa Kaunda and Regional Governor for the North Kenneth Sanga attended the event.

The Northern Region has 33 constituencies and more than 40 ward.
