Former Member of Parliament for Mchinji South has been arrested by Mchinji Police for sexually abusing three girls and forcing them to watch porn with him.

Mchinji Police Officer In-charge, Owen Maganga told Malawi News Agency (Mana) that the ex-MP , Jerome Waluza was picked on Saturday evening following a complaint by one of the victims’ parents.

“We received a complaint from one of the girls’ mother that Waluza had been fondling the private parts of the four girls aged 12 to 14 years on four occasions whenever they visited Waluza at his house at Mayadi, Mchinji Boma,” said Maganga.

In an interview with Monday at Mchinji Police, one of the girls, a fourteen year girl (name withheld) alleged that on January 17, 2019, she and the other three girls were sent to collect money from Waluza by one of the girls’ mother who was working as a maid at the former legislator’s house.

“When we reached Waluza’s house at Mayadi, he told us to go and watch a film in his bedroom. He told us he keeps his television set in his bedroom because he didn’t want robbers to steal it in the sitting room.

“We went to his bedroom and we watched an action movie, and later on he forced us to watch a pornographic film,” she said.

She explained that when they started watching the film, Waluza started fondling their breasts and private parts. The girls tried to resist but Waluza said he would not sleep with them but just touch them.

Another fourteen year old girl corroborated the story and told Mana that when the girls went to the house for the second time, Waluza asked one girl to wash his son’s school bag and the others to go home.

He later told the girl to enter the bedroom where he removed the girl’s underwear and fondled her private parts and brushed his member on the girl’s private parts.

All the three girls said Waluza kept telling them that they were adults and should not complain because he was not having sex with them but just ‘touching them’.

“He kept telling us we are adults and that there was nothing wrong with what he was doing,” said one of them.

Waluza was seen at Mchinji Police barefoot as the law enforcers interrogated him.

One of the victims’ mothers, a Mrs. Zakaria, said she wanted justice for her child and the other girls.

Mchinji Police Officer In-charge, Maganga, said Waluza will appear in court soon to answer charges of indecent assault.

Waluza, who is also a well-known contractor, served as Member of Parliament for Mchinji South from 2009 to 2014.

He lost Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Primary elections last year to Agness Nkusa Nkhoma.
