Eastern Region chief resident magistrate Mzondi Mvula has today granted bail to UTM Director of Youth Bon Kalindo.

The UTM Mulanje South legislator was arrested Thursday for invading Balaka Police Station where two aides of Vice president Saulos Chilima were detained over a week ago.

Police also accused Kalindo of insulting President Peter Mutharika while pushing for the release of the two.

Kalindo was denied bail last Friday as magistrate Mvula needed sometime to look into all parties involved, between the state and the defence.

Today, Chief Resident Magistrate Mvula has released Kalindo on conditions that he should be reporting to Blantyre police every Monday and should surrender his passport.

Kalindo has also paid a bond of K20 000 and presented two surities bonded with non-cash of K100 000 each.
