UTM Youth Director Bon Kalindo is still in police custody after the Zomba magistrates court failed to make a ruling on his application.
The court is expected to make a ruling on Monday which means Kalindo will spend the weekend in police custody.
Kalindo who is also Member of Parliament for Mulanje South is being accused of displaying disorderly conduct at Balaka Police Station and insulting President Peter Mutharika.
He was arrested on Thursday in Lilongwe but was later transferred to Zomba.
On Friday, UTM supporters gathered at Zomba Police station where they chanted songs and demanded Kalindo’s release.
